EES EU Live (10/2021) - The Digital Senators' Briefing
Video Live Talk Dr. Ingo Friedrich, President of the European Economic Senate (EES),
with Tobias WINKLER Europe expert and member of the 20th Bundestag

Topic:
"Germany after the election. Policy change - but where to? What matters now."

Germany has voted and only narrowly missed a slide to the left under a Red-Green-Red government. What is certain is that in all likelihood there will be no "grand coalition", as this is ruled out by Olaf Scholz and the SPD. This means that a coalition of three parties will be necessary in order to form a majority government at all. The first coalition negotiations are underway. It is remarkable that the two potential "junior government partners", the FDP and the Greens, have met first for negotiations and, if they agree on a common programme, they will ultimately be able to choose with which chancellor they will form a government. There will be a change of policy, which will always bear the signature of the Greens and the Yellows. What does this change of power and the election result mean for Germany and Europe? What scenarios are conceivable? What is in store for the citizens and the economy? Where do we have to position ourselves or forge alliances now? Will we succeed in exerting a positive influence on political decision-makers? These are the questions and issues we want to address next Tuesday.
